Paper

Buy paper in all shapes, colours and sizes from The Retail Factory. All modern printers nowadays use a specific type of office paper that will work in almost any office machine including photocopiers, fax machines, desktop printers, laser printers and multifunction copiers.

The office has come away from using paper on a roll in the way of fax rolls (which are still available) or using sprocket fed listing paper (also still available) and instead use a standard A4 sized paper sheet of between 80GSM (80 grams per square meter) up to 120GSM for thicker quality. The type of paper is referred to as A4 copier, printer paper or copier paper but no matter the name the standard paper used in most offices is A4 80GSM Laser Copier Paper.

Although A4 80GSM Laser Copier Paper is designed for use with laser printers because it can resist damage caused by higher temperatures used in laser copiers, it is also the acceptable standard for fax machines and inkjet printers.

A4 paper has become the standard office paper over old sizes such as foolscap printer paper mainly because it became the standard paper size used by the Xerox Corporation in their photocopying machines and now although envelopes are designed as C5, C4 and DL – they all conform to folding of A4 paper being an exact fold from A4 (C5 envelope is A4 paper folded in half, C4 envelope is A4 paper as normal and DL envelope is A4 paper folded into thirds).

A4 paper comes in two standard sizes, reams and boxes. For standard 80GSM A4 paper, a ream is 500 sheets of A4 paper packed together. For standard 80GSM A4 paper, a box is 5 reams of A4 paper boxed together (2500 sheets).
